In this introductory chapter of “Survey of Communication Study,” the authors lay the groundwork for understanding communication. The authors introduce two models of communication, linear and transactional. The linear model depicts communication as a one way transmission of messages, while the transactional model highlights the communication exchanges, role of personal filters and contextual influences. By sharpening our communication skills individuals can navigate diverse communication situations effectively, enhancing relationships and opportunities in all parts of life.Due to the arguing in the image, the individuals may struggle to articulate their thoughts or fully understand the intentions of the other, we often struggle with accurately conveying our ideas and understanding others. This connection highlights the relevance of communication study in our everyday lives, by which we gain a deeper understanding of how communication shapes our interactions, and helps us better navigate social, professional, and personal relationships.
